General Questions

What are Fidalgo Coffee's hours of operation?

Our retail store is open from 10:00am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday (closed on Holidays.)

Our administrative office is open from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday.

When I call, why do I always end up at voicemail?

We are a small office, so all of our phone lines go to voice mail.

During business hours, we aim to return most phone calls within 30 minutes.

I can't find your coffee at my grocery store? How do I talk to them about this?

Here’s the best way to get Fidalgo Coffee in your favorite grocery store if we’re not already there:

  1. Ask for the store manager
  2. Keep it really simple and let them know that you want them to carry your favorite coffee brand (ours, of course.)

Coffee Questions

What is organic coffee?

Organic is a regulated word in US food and beverage. For coffee this means that it was grown without herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers and non-GMO. If the coffee is decaf, it also means the decaffeination process was chemical free. This also means that the processing and roasting facility is regularly inspected along with an audit of ingredients against sales records to verify compliance.

What is fair trade certified coffee?

Fair trade certified coffee is a trade model that includes third-party verification of the coffee from farm to roaster. This includes a minimum floor price along with a social premium paid to the producers. Fidalgo Coffee is a licensee of Fair Trade USA. Learn more at www.fairtradecertified.org.

What is shade grown coffee?

Shade grown coffee is traditional coffee farming. Coffee is a shade loving subtropical shrub. Farmers who keep and plant trees on their farm experience biodiversity including neotropical migratory birds. Coffee farms are places that make a difference for species who are seeing their habit reduced. Your coffee can make a world of difference.

Do you have single origin coffees?

Our single origin coffees include Ethiopia, Koma Kulshan, Organic Centro and our Daybreak Blend.

How is your coffee roasted?

Our beans are small-batch roasted in a traditional European coffee roaster. The roaster is gas-fired and uses a cast-iron drum with radiant heat for the perfect, even roast.

How much caffeine does your coffee have?
The caffeine content in our coffee is about 64mg per 7g (.25-oz) of ground coffee. This is about equal to the following:
  • 1-fl ounce shot of espresso
  • 2-fl ounce cold brew concentrate using Toddy Cold Brew system recipe
  • 6-fl ounce home-made drip coffee
How long does Cold Brew keep after I brew it?

Your Cold Brew remains fresh for up to 3 days after brewing. After that point, you might notice the coffee solids rebinding. While you can continue to drink it beyond three days, Fidalgo Coffee recommends making only what you need for a 3-day period to enjoy our delicious coffee at its peak flavor.

Do I need to refrigerate cold brew after I brew it?

Cold Brew coffee starts to lose its delicious flavor rapidly. If you’d like to keep your Cold Brew fresh for longer than 24 hours, we recommend refrigerating it.

How to brew? What ratio of coffee to water should I use?

We recommend the following ratios of coffee to water:

  • 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 6 fluid ounces of water
  • 3 to 4 ounces ground coffee per half gallon batch
  • 16-18 grams ground coffee per double espresso yielding 1.75 to 2 fluid ounces of espresso in about 25 seconds
  • Pour-over: 10:1 water to coffee and 2 parts water bypass
Does your decaf use any chemicals?

Our decaffeinated coffee process uses water to remove the caffeine – not chemicals. This is important as chemically processed decaf can be very bad for you.

How do I add/change coffees on my subscribe & save order?

To make changes to your subscribe & save coffee order:

  1. Log in to your account using the faq account icon icon at the top.
  2. Once logged in, click on “My Subscription” in the left menu-bar.
  3. Scroll down and click the button that says “Make Changes” under the “Subscription Totals” section.
  4. Your existing order will come up on the screen along with all the other coffees available. Deselect the coffee you no longer want and select the new ones to replace it.
I'm almost out of coffee! Can I speed up my order?

You have the ability to speed up your order to ship at the next available opportunity. Follow these steps to do that:

  1. Log in to your account using the faq account icon icon at the top.
  2. Once logged in, click on “My Subscription” in the left menu-bar.
  3. Click the button that says “Renew Now.”
  4. Your existing order will come up on the screen along with all the other coffees available. You can make any changes you want at this point (if you’d like to). Otherwise, finish checkout, and your order will be processed at our next shipping date.
Can I change the frequency of my shipments?

Yes! To change the frequency of your shipments, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your account using the faq account icon icon at the top.
  2. Once logged in, click on “My Subscription” in the left menu-bar.
  3. Scroll down and click the button that says “Make Changes” under the “Subscription Totals” section.
  4. Your existing order will come up on the screen along with all the other coffees available (you are also able to change the coffees in your order if you’d like.) On the right (or below on small mobile devices), you’ll see a drop-down box to change your shipping schedule.
Can I add more than 4 bags of coffee to my order?

Absolutely. Add as many bags as you want and enjoy a discount on each additional bag!

This is a great way to save money – especially if you drink a lot of coffee.

How often can I receive shipments?

Our Subscribe & Save program is set up to allow a lot of customization and flexibility between coffee shipments. You can choose from the following cycles for your frequency:

  • Every 1 weeks
  • Every 2 weeks
  • Every 3 weeks
  • Every 4 weeks
  • Every 5 weeks
  • Every 6 weeks
  • Every 7 weeks
  • Every 8 weeks
  • Every 9 weeks
  • Every 10 weeks
  • Every 11 weeks
  • Every 12 weeks

If you’d like a different schedule, try subscribing to your favorite coffees individually. This will let you fine-tune how many bags you receive and the frequency that you receive them.

What payment methods does Fidalgo Coffee accept?

We accept the following payment methods:

What products are available for subscription?

You can add any of our coffees to a subscription or subscribe & save order.

The only exception is for our seasonal coffees since these are only available for a limited time.

How often can I receive subscription shipments?

You can receive your subscription shipments on every 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 weeks.

Why don't you have pods or k-cups?

We choose to focus on specialty coffee and the ritual of grinding and brewing coffee. We limit our offering to what we do best and to what we believe in. One of our core values is Quality. We are not satisfied with the quality in the cup from k-cups and pods. And, k-cups/pods are a wasteful single use method that can’t be compared to the value and quality experienced by brewing espresso, a pot of coffee, or a pot of cold brew.

Why don't you have ready to drink cold brew?

Fidalgo Coffee is a dry roasting facility. It is not compatible with liquid wet processing. We could use a co-packer, co-producer or send our coffee out to a third-party manufacturer, but then we would lose control over quality. We choose to focus our effort on being the best specialty roaster in America and dedicated to those who want to make their own cup of coffee. To perfection.

How to I apply Promo Codes online?

When you begin the checkout process, you will see a box to add a promo/coupon code and apply it to the order.

How long does it take for an order to process before shipping?

We usually process orders by noon the following business day before shipping.

What is the status of my order?

To view the status of your order:

  1. Log in to your account using the faq account icon icon at the top of the page.
  2. Click on “orders” on the left menu.
  3. Find the order from the list that you want to learn more about.

After finding your order, you will see a “status” on the right side of that order. Here are the various statuses you may see and what they mean:

  • Pending payment — We received your order, but we are still awaiting payment (unpaid).
  • Failed — Your payment didn’t work for some reason.
  • Processing — Your order was received, and your payment worked! Now it’s up to us to fulfill and ship your order.
  • Completed — We’ve fulfilled your order and shipped it. If you still haven’t received your order, check the tracking number that we sent you to see where it is.
  • On hold — We’ve put a hold on your order for some reason. It could be that we want to clear something up with you or that we are out of stock.
  • Canceled — Your order has been canceled by either you or us.
  • Refunded — We’ve refunded your order

Shipping Questions

Why didn't my package ship? / How long does it take to process an order?

Your product will usually ship within 1-2 business days after the order is received.

We do not ship any orders on Saturdays or Sundays.

What shipping methods are used for my order? Can I choose which method is used?

Currently, our main shipping carrier is UPS. We will also us the US Postal Service for PO Boxes.

We will shift carriers for a combination of reasons including best pricing and best deliverability to our customers.

I need my order right away. How can I get it expedited?

We understand a rush from time-to-time. If you’re in a “coffee emergency,” you can contact us at orders@fidalgocoffee.com and we’ll quickly get back to you with options that are available.

Do you ship internationally?

Through our website, we only offer domestic shipping in the United States as well as shipping to military addresses abroad.

If you live outside of the United States, please contact us to learn the costs and timeframes for shipping to your address. International shipping starts at $80 and goes up depending on the country we are shipping to.

Account & Billing Questions

Why can't I log in to my new account?

In January 2023, we migrated all our customers to a brand-new system. This system allows our customers far more control over their accounts. Unfortunately, since passwords are stored securely (in a way that even we can’t find your password), each customer must reset their password for access. You can reset your password by clicking the “forgot password” link on the login page.

What is Fidalgo Coffee's refund & return policy?

We try to keep our refund and return policies very customer service friendly.

  • Returns: Items shipped from Fidalgocoffee.com can be returned within 30 days of delivery.
  • Refunds: Fidalgo Coffee will promptly replace or issue a refund for any problem you may have experienced with your order or product within 30 days of delivery.
