8-Cup Coffee Maker Brew Guide
Welcome to our coffee brewing guide! In this guide, you'll learn how to brew the perfect cup of coffee using the Bonavita 8-cup home coffee maker. If you have another brand of home drip coffee maker, this guide should work as well.
The steps to a perfect pot of drip coffee
STEP 1
Gather Your Ingredients and Equipment
Ingredients:
- 80 grams (1 measuring cup) of coffee beans
- 40 fl oz of water
Equipment:
- Bonavita 8-cup coffee maker
- #4 Melitta filter
- Coffee grinder
- Scale (optional)
STEP 2
Prepare the Coffee and Filter
- Grind 1 measuring cup of coffee beans (or weigh out 80 grams).
- Place the #4 Melitta filter into the brew basket.
- Rinse the filter with hot tap water.
STEP 3
Add Coffee Grounds and Water
- Add the ground coffee to the filter basket.
- Fill the coffeemaker’s reservoir with water to the 8-cup line.
STEP 4
Start the Brewing Process
- Push the brew button.
- Wait for the brew cycle to complete (about 6 minutes).
STEP 5
Finishing Touches
- Remove the thermal pot.
- Wipe the shower head to clean out any coffee residue.
STEP 6
Enjoy Your Coffee
Pour yourself a cup and savor the perfect brew. Adjust for personal taste if needed:
- For a milder coffee: Add a half cup of water to the thermal pot before brewing.
- For a stronger coffee: Use less water in the reservoir.

- Lighter roasts: Weigh more by volume due to higher density.
- Darker roasts: Weigh less as they are puffier with less moisture.
